Biography:

Completely unphased by trends and inclination for ingratiation to the listener Artaud Seth in his role as mastermind behind the Merciful Nuns continues to traverse his chosen musical path. Produced brilliantly not only in the context of present demands but quite simply seminal for timeless great music. Goth as a mixture of widescreen epic and massive walls of guitar sound, sacred choir chants, rattling drum computer and Artaud's sepulchral voice permeating through every fibre of one's body, at times plunging its intrinsic despair deep into the heart of the listener. Merciful Nuns are much more than just the sole legitimate successor of the three musicians' legendary former band Garden Of Delight! The Merciful Nuns have already attained cult status and must be regarded as seminal for intelligent listening pleasure!

In 2016 the Trio Infernal strikes again: "Thelema VIII", the eighth album from the occult rock gods led by mastermind Artaud Seth. The man himself, Jawa Seth and Jón Tmoh arguably spearhead the international Goth-Rock scene. Hardly any band in this genre can boast a vitae like the Merciful Nuns.
"Thelema VIII" pounds ear-drums with an implosion and rarely the album succeeds in drawing the listener so convincingly and quickly under its spell.
Instantly pinpointed and excessive songs, wild and menacing dark penetrate the auditory canals. In the Merciful Nuns' typical style we find the synapsis exceeding the process of mere listening by posting a fundamental question of meaning in its literary context. On this occasion we find the inquisitive Socrates on his journey into the abyss of a dystopic society living in accord with Thelemitic principles on a distant exoplanet.

The Merciful Nuns return in 2017 with their ninth album "A-U-M". It continues to deliver a profound lyrical context against a backdrop of mesmerising soundscapes and carefully orchestrated containment of driven energy. This time the journey takes us into the realms of Eastern philosophy, a tour-de-force in the manner established fans of the band have grown accustomed to and will no doubt find their anticipation suitably serviced with "A-U-M". Vocals, bass and guitars are arranged in perfect harmony and in support of each other; one never gets the impression of listening to three individuals working together but rather a coordinated trinity.
