Eon:Eon was step into the future and better tones. Finally, Peter Spilles, vocalist of Project Pitchfork decided to take action. What we hear on successor of "!Chakra:Red!" is synthesis of german electro-sound with gothic techno sounds. "Destructive tracks in the land". Already in 1998, three years before "Daimonion" release Spilles tried to mess with pop and industrial. Singles promoting the album were: Carnival, Steelrose, I Live Your Dream.
Before the premiere there was an opportunity to hear "Steelrose" and "Carnival". It's a pity that mentioning "Steelrose" I must say that the most memorable version on MCD was Apoptygma Berzerk remix.
Carnival is a perfect opening for Project Pitchfork's seventh full-length. Catchy chorus, electronic melody and vocal. "Realm Center" seems to be perfect filling for middle part of the album - calm voice, downtempo. "Hunted" and "Resist" just skip over. Only "Rescue" is 'attractive'. Five-minute lenght masterpiece of industrial and over-reverberated vocals. Haunting beat allures. That's a pearl. "Karma monster waiting in the dark" - sixth track, another moment of rest or maybe boredom. Eponymous "Eon" intrigues with piano chords. But later Spilles and company served a portion of hires electro. Standard electro-ballad, which can be compared to "December Sadness" from "!C:R!". Nine. That's the note in scale from 1 to 10 that I would give "Orange Moon". Definately with "Carnival" or "Rescue" that's the best track on the cd. Aptly modified vocal superbly fits in the rhytm. "Dream" and "Wish" represent known Pitchforks' tone.
Repeated theme from "Eon" and 12 song. Choirs in the background and soft voice. But is it catchy? Despite the commonly stated opinion, that "I Live Your Dream" is one of worth remembering PP tracks, I would not say so.
"Carnival" is a perfect opener, and "Steelrose" nifty closes it. Here band tries to play with pop and classical EBM.
Near this cd an "100%" mark should be shown. An 100% mark for evolution in music. But considering it objectively, Eon:Eon indeed has excellent moments but also moments of extreme boredom. Taking both factors into account I'm forced to say - great appetizer for "Damionion". It's not an absolute. If we could choose 6 from 13 tracks it CERTAINLY would be an very important EP for electro world.
Tracklisting:
1 - Carnival
2 - Realm Centre
3 - Hunted
4 - Resist
5 - Rescue
6 - Karma Monster
7 - Our Destiny
8 - Eon
9 - Orange moon
10 - Dreamer
11 - Wish
12 - I Live Your Dream
13 - Steelrose
