„The Devi’s Steed” is the first album released by Sol Invictus after the the label company „World Serpent”closed down. The album's name is connected with the traditional Russian beliefs according to which those whose committed suicide become ‘a devil’s steed’. The fans of Sol Invictus will surely be satisfied of the band's return to the roots. Tony Wakeford is supported by Eric Roger, Gary Parsons, Karl Blake, Marie Vellanz and his wife Renée Rosen, with whom he recorded instrumental piece „O Death come close my eyes”. This quite a numerous group of musicians created 15 excellent recordings, which will amaze everyone, even if they didn't like neo-folk before. The gloomy mood is created by acoustic instruments (especially guitar) and wonderful Wakeford's voice. I wrote wonderful, but it should be explained that its excellency does not result from its tone or power. It's about the message and engagement audible in each of the recordings. The mood is also influenced by a cello, which emphasizes neo-folk character of the album. Tony made sure that the album sounds the way everyone wish it to sound - slightly depressive, but fortifying at the same time. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best neo-folk albums I've ever heard. I'm sure every fan - and not only - of this sort of music will love it. I may say that even an electronic music fanatic -like me - will like this music.„The Devil’s Steed” is a really good, beautiful album and I would really love to see its performed live - if its possible I'll surely do.
