Svartsvinn’s last release introduces listeners into the dark spaces, closely filled with varied tones of the black. The more we get into the desolated places, marked by inevitable passage of time, the more we find out about the landscapes filled with different sounds. From rumbling, through murmuring to the sounds of the working machines. There are no vocals and the only guide is a richness of sounds which may frighten, like in case of "Torchbearer, Kill The Light". The album is way too short – less than 35 minutes of music is not enough to satisfy the appetite which soars for good after the fourth track. "Vemod" which is an entering song, does not delight because it is monotonous and lacks the element which may surprise the listener. Whereas, the second track, entitled "September Dirge" is breathtaking. It is a journey into the unknown, far regions where the wind lashes the stretches of the land thoroughly with its cold whiff. Extremely pompous and sophisticated lets the listener to take a breath of the fresh breeze among haunted sounds floating from the loony violins. "And Time Will Erase" is an expedition into the claustrophobic areas, overfilled with distressing noises which reminds of the inside of the enormous cave. The end of this record is portended by the ominous ticking of a clock. The real pearl. The closing track "Torchbearer, Kill The Light" contains the hoard of the various, haunted sounds which may be imagined in the postindustrial landscape – tasteful and without needless surfeit.
The second disc is a tribute to 10th anniversary of Svartsinn’s existence. There are remixes of selected tracks form the former albums (sometimes very surprising). Obligatory item for the enthusiasts of the band.
