We have been observing, for some time already, an intriguing way which Rukkanor follows, changing (and developing!) himself from album to album. This time he adds more genres: EBM, synth pop and something that can be called dark disco, to his industrial repertoire, electronic music from the seventies and sounds connected with new romantic movement of the eighties (OMD, Numan, Heaven 17, Visage). It’s hard to believe that this fusion of sounds is steered by one man only, Robert Marciniak. "Despartica – Face Two" is the second part of musical interpretation of nineteenth and twentieth century poetry. A little bit calmed down but even more mysterious music constitutes a perfect background for sinister hymns ("Death") or sullen elegies ("Leisure"). In mid-album extremely electronic tracks Rukkanor sounds perfectly, everything is cohesive, gloomy enough, but sufficiently light as well. Surely it’s not as heavy as previous albums and surely not everybody will like it. The artist said "Only by the severance from what you have already achieved you can create some space for new occurrences." Well, maybe neofolk music has just lost its outstanding representative, however a new representative is gained by electronic music which Rukkanor has already enriched with a big dose of experiments and romanticism.
