For The Bats Volume I
The March Violets, The Last Dance, Monica Richards, Christ Vs. Warhol and others join together to help raise money for bat rescue, rehabilitation and conservation.
Artists in the dark music community pooled their talent to create a 25 song Bandcamp release with all proceeds going to Bat World Sanctuary, based in Texas, USA (www.batworld.org) Bats have been a symbol for gothic music since it began, but they are more than a symbol. They are beautiful animals that are often misunderstood to be vermin or pests when in reality, they are very important to the balance of the Earth's
delicate ecology. Bats help spread seeds for reforestation and kill billions of insects that would otherwise overrun our crops.
The compilation contains tracks from several known bands as well as unknown new discoveries. Bands such as Cliff and Ivy from Alaska and Escarlatina Obsessiva from Brazil held a very specific enthusiasm for bats since there are many species that live near their areas. Many artists were immediately on board out of their love for animals, like Monica Richards, who has been well known for her efforts in animal advocacy
and the environment and gladly sent in a rare mix of her song, "Fall." The album is sold exclusively on Bandcamp at www.forthebats.bandcamp.com for just $9 US, and comes with a 24 page pdf booklet containing bat artwork, information about Bat World Sanctuary, and information on each of the 25 songs. There are plans to release Volume II sometime this Winter.
