Italian electro medieval music from FEMINA FABER
Born in 2005, based upon an idea of Paola Bianchi, the FEMINA FABER project fuses the asperity of synthetic and industrial sound with the lyricism of the Latin language using electronic sound (produced by different electronic devices and synth) as a background for Paola Bianchi’s poems, translated to Old Latin by Prof. Alberto Magnani.
In 2006 FEMINA FABER recorded her first five track EP, with the collaboration of Andrea Marutti (AfeRecords) and undertook an Italian tour, titled “Ictus libidinis” (Sensual Trauma).FEMINA FABER’s latest work is Tumultuor, recorded at OFF Studio in Turin by sound engineer Marco Milanesio and produced by Creative Fields. This work avails the participation of Fausto Balbo, Marco Milanesio (DsosDne, 9cento9) and a034. Paola Bianchi has studied vocal technique with Roberta Mangiacavalli since 1998, especially focusing on medieval and renaissance polyphony. She has also attended a few courses (“Vocal and Instrumental Music Between XIII and XIV Centuries” with “Ensemble LaReverdie” and “Singing and Its Breath” with Renato Gatto – Nuova Artec) for example. She is now attending Baroque Vocality and is also a student at “Internationale School of Gregorian Chant – Cremona” superintended by Prof. Nino Albarosa as well as singing in two choral ensembles: “Musica&Musica” since 2003 (dir. Roberta Mangiacavalli – Medieval, Renaissance and XX Century Polyphony) and “Alia Monodia” since 2007 (dir. Giovanni Conti – Gregorian Chant). Since 1998, she has been the vocalist of LUDMILA with the recorded works “Disadorne” (CD and Italian/European tour) and “Nel Primo Cerchio” (Creative Fields), L’Escargot). In addition, she has collaborated with several musicians in their recordings. Tumultuor is an exciting mix of dark ambient, industrial, electro and medieval music. Music journalists compares that music to Helium Vola or Qntal.
