Australian project Angelspit is experiencing a small revolution - the latest album "The Product" was recorded without current singer Amelia Destroyx. Official given reason is: vocalist wants to focus on their own projects", the real reason? - we do not know, but they promise that she will return on further recordings. Meanwhile, the Leader Karl Learmont invited more or less known performers from dark independent scene, such as Georg Bikos (who previously collaborated with inter alia The Cruxshadows), Miss Ballistic and Teknocracy. Did Angelspit benefited from this change? Let's find out.

First track, "Hot Mess" featuring George Bikos, begins with surprisingly melodic and soft intro. Not for long - because, quite brutally bursts into the song sound that is characteristic to the band: strong electronic beat and aggressive vocals, whole delicately suggests post-punk.  Too many different inspiration heard in the song rather prevents from putting it into the one music bag, what is common thing when it comes to dark independent.

Because God started from the dry drums offers to us quite melodic (but invariably dynamic) vocal, interesting duet and amazing energy, that played makes crowd to jump up and down. Similarly, third composition, Ambassador, which beginning, aesthetically debatable, brings nothing new - except maybe for a bit "brighter" and more joyous harmonic solutions. "Pretty Dead Boys" pleases with a variation of a slower pace, at least in the chorus, guitars are can also be heard better what gives the song a kind of majesty - of course under the well-known to us disintegrating energy and a very good electronics. "Flight Dirty" made along with Helalyn Flowers amuse us with Italian inserts, but it's not a defect of this track - marching, rebellious manifesto of people  that are against today's shape of world.

As for the "Creeper" that has characteristic mood, whose closest term is dark cabaret. Psychedelic sounds, rhythms and triplet, what is important - no vocal layers gives the composition a unique atmosphere and character. It is powerful, loud, crazy, hypnotic, a waltz of desperadoes and rotting dance floor.

Next position, "Baal Arise", returns to well-known aggressive lyrics and lively rhythms. Multiple electronic layers with effects even on vocal does not single out this track among the others before "Creeper".

"Velocity" surprises with seemingly irregular rhythms and very melodic vocals which harmonic scale was inspired by musical achievements of Middle East. This incredible diversity makes this tracks as one of the best on the album.

"Cut Stick" is repeatable, but it's a good one, however "Walk in the Woods featuring Teknocracy completely changes the mood, brings a calm and melancholy. This is due to  unprocessed, melodic vocal and economical, though eloquent musical means used in the background - a sound that is associated more with Nine Inch Nails than Angelspit

"Train wreck" and "Watch The Sunshine" is another perfect match to the concept of the album, but they do not stand out with nothing  non-trivial among the other compositions.

The last position, "Weapon of Choice is dangerously similar to the "Pretty when you cry" by Vast in harmonic and melodic layer. The song defend itself with chorus, that prevents from calling this a "plagiarism". Nevertheless the song is a worthy summary and shows how versatile are musicians from Angelspit.

As it turned out, album The Product is determined by its title. A very good product with perfectly balanced proportions of hard beats to the melodious accents. The energy bursts the listener, ambitious compositions do not allow to be bored. So what's missing? Actually, the answer is in that ideality. The proportions are too artificial, like they were calculated by the "American scientists", that gives the album a completely unnecessary predictability. Nevertheless, from the music side it's quite ambitious, and the lack of Amelia Destroyx has not contributed to lower the level of the album. "The Product" is a good and strong proposition for lovers of the genre, and if a concert will happened - must have!
