Old school EBM refers to bands and artists which were the first to play and define EBM, primarily Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, Front 242, and Nitzer Ebb during the early 80s, and the bands that were influenced by them later. During the recent 10 years this genre has been revived by many bands (mostly from Germany and Sweden) that try to stay as faithful as possible to the old bands and their sound. Their sound and atittude differs quite much from general modern EBM, and therefore is often defined as a subgenre in itself.
