Kaze - Uminari

2015-04-27 (News)

Uminari is a Japanese word that refers to a sound rising from the sea, a low-frequency roar that portends a coming storm or tsunami. The poetic word serves an ideal title for the third CD from the unconventional international quartet Kaze. The two-horn quartet is equally adept at the calm and the storm, with expressive subtleties giving way to overwhelming torrents of sound.

Hidden By Ivy - To Abandon

2015-04-26 (News)

"To Abandon" is a debut EP by Polish duet Hidden By Ivy. It was founded by Rafał Tomaszczuk (vocals and lyrics) from no longer existing Agonised by Love and Andrzej "Andy" Turaj (instruments, choirs) from God's Own Medicine. After years of experiences and searching they found each other on their way led by intuition and music. You can hear here some characteristic sounds from classic period of 4AD or Projekt Records. Nostalgic dream-pop soundscapes meet new wave nervousness and neaofolk nature mix with lyricism close to such artists like This Mortal Coil, No-Man or David Sylvian. It seems that something lacking on our Polish scene has been finally found.

Hybryds - The Ritual Should Be Kept Alive

2015-04-25 (News)

Zoharum continues reissuing past works of one of the most interesting projects coming from the 1980s underground - Hybryds. This album is the fourth instalment in the reissue series of Hybryds classic releases. It is an expanded reissue of "The Ritual Should Be Kept Alive (1)" EP released back in 1991. That release featured only the first part of the title composition. The Zoharum edition was extended to a 70-minute full album with the other two parts of "The Ritual Should Be Kept Alive" included plus one more bonus song.
Contrary to the previous releases ("Mythical Music from the 21st Century" and "Music for Rituals" - both reissued on Zoharum – with lots of short pieces), "The Ritual Should Be Kept Alive" contains slowly-evolving, long pieces which will hypnotise the listener with their sonic magic. Four songs on this album come from the same period, so it sounds very cohesive. And because three of them were not published before, "The Ritual Should Be Kept Alive" in version a.d. 2014 might be treated as a new album.
The album has been digitally remastered from the original stereo cassette master by none else but Sandy Nys, who also provided the cover based on the previous editions. This is the ritual music at its best. Now you can enjoy it in the best digital quality. The CD is housed in a digipak sleeve and the album is strictly limited to 500 copies.

Strom Noir - Glaciology

2015-04-24 (News)

Strom Noir, which is a moniker for Emil Maťko, amazed everyone with his last year's album "Urban Blues", which saw Emil exploring urban spaces with the use of ephemeral guitar melodies. On his new album on Zoharum, Emil goes to entirely different places: filled with white glaciers and snow-capped mountains.
The subtitle of Strom Noir latest album is "Four Songs about Snow and Ice." Emil Maťko skillfully converted the arctic landscapes into sonic structures. Four compositions filled with static guitar drones resemble a snowy picture. They unravel very slowly and subtly into one another. They require focusing on them. A 20-minute bonus track which is the full version of "Niekedy Sa Vracaju" originally released on "Tanec Rusaliek" cassette in the shortened version, has a similar sense.
The CD is housed in an ecopak sleeve and is strictly limited to 300 copies.

Ruinizer - Decimation In H.D.

2015-04-23 (News)

The second album from this genre-busting Ruinizer act has arrived – dropping elements of trip, hip-hop and metal into the electro-industrial mix alongside lengthy and darkly witty lyrics... and just in time to accompany what promises to be a profanity-strewn appearance at the UK's premier industrial event Resistanz Festival.
