2009-06-11 (News)

What's the state of the Gothic scene in 2009? Certainly not what the mainstream music media tries to tell you. Gothic Rock, Wave, Post Punk, Deathrock, Indie, Minimal Electro, old school EBM, New Wave, Electroclash - all these genres are featured on the "Darkness Before Dawn" 2CD compilation, compiled by longtime scene activist Thomas Thyssen. 40 tracks, more than 2,5 hours of music - a great start for this new compilation series.

Verney 1826 releases Nebelland

2009-06-06 (News)

Verney 1826 has the artistic ability to integrate many elements of gothic, ethereal, neo-classical and electronic into a beautiful album. In its earliest form, the German project Verney 1826 can be dated back to the year 1991. Influenced from the beginning by classical music, the gothic tales of Mrs Shelley and the beauty of long forgotten times, Verney 1826 still follows its vision to create sad musical landscapes. The project uses stylistic elements from gothic ambient, folk noir or haunting dark wave, while the lyrics go reflective ways. First being considered an experiment, the operatic voice of mezzo-soprano Anna Aliena (ShirayasDream) has become a constant factor. Music for the bleak hours of the night: Quiet, dark, fragile.
