Client - Authority

2014-03-14 (News)

The return of the UK pioneers of female electronica is one of the most eagerly awaited album releases of the year... and they certainly deliver the goods. "Authority" is an addictive powerhouse of minimal electronics, groovy rhythms and mercilessly catchy melodies.

System reboot. Welcome CLIENT 2.0! Following a hiatus of four years, CLIENT have recruited new singer Client N, a charismatic and powerful vocal performer who has been very active and renowned on the music scene of her home city of Bristol, and have recorded a powerhouse of synthesiser-driven tunes. Tunes that mark a highly effective return to the group's roots in minimal electronic pop music, yet with a very modern, club-oriented twist.

Lucy Kitchen - Waking

2014-03-12 (News)

Waking is the brand new album from UK folk singer-songwriter Lucy Kitchen. Kitchen crafts haunting and delicate songs, written of her own experiences, loves, desires and life.
From the opening picked guitar of title track ‘Waking’ (literally written in that time between sleep and waking, "when I opened my eyes, it was there" she says), to the country-tinged love song ‘Here’, through ‘Autumn’ (a lament for summer), ‘Blue Eyes' with its lush cello to the laid back, string soaked ‘Tide’, this is an album to close your eyes to and just take it in.
The songs were recorded as a live performance of guitar and vocals and then embellished with flute, glockenspiel and other instruments.  Kitchen says "I wanted the intimacy of a live performance and to capture the songs as a whole." Recorded with her good friend Toby Vane of Zanzibar Productions, Kitchen plays and sings guitar, flute, glockenspiel, melodica and percussion.
Lucy Kitchen is a Southampton based singer-songwriter, a self-confessed ‘folky bird’ who cites influences from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Mazzy Star, Laura Veirs, Bon Iver, Neil Young and Nick Drake.

Filip Szyszkowski - Mother of Ants

2014-03-11 (News)

The album of Filip Szyszkowski, so far known as 21 Gramms, will be released in March via Unquiet Records. 10 disturbing ambient-noise tracks, a little bit different than the previous ones, emphasising more the space, cosmic vacuum and triviality of human race.
It will be available in digital format and as a CD in exclusive hand-made packaging limited to 44 items.
CD version will include additional track featuring Bartek Rogalewicz known from Nyia and Deadbambi, currently a member of Rogi.
Mother of Ants is a very sad and dark album which is also a commentary on social issues.

'The project has always been aimless. For centuries, aim after aim. Pattern after pattern. Cell after cell. Without any break. Fragments of puzzle existing only for being. For lasting. Nothing more. The colony directed by the mother's rush to reproduce. The father of anxiety - emptiness.'

Combichrist - remixes by From My Cold Dead Hands

2014-03-10 (News)

Ryle and  Darksiderz released remixes of the first single promoting the latest Combichrist album "We Love You". The album saw the light of the day on 28th February.

Ryle's version is full of destructive energy, the musician perfectly grasped the essence of the original track and then pu it into pieces. Explosive mixture of genres and styles emphasising bass sounds.

Darksiderz made it even harder. Synthesizers plus unconventional usage of melodious elements which speed the track unbelievably.

Beauty Queen Autopsy - Roughest Cuts- the demos

2014-03-07 (News)

Called everything from dark noisepop to distorted synthpop (it’s poppy regardless), BEAUTY QUEEN AUTOPSY is a dynamic new voice coming out of the chaos of the indie electronic world. Comprised of two veterans of the DIY underground electronic scene, San Francisco’s Erica Mulkey (best known as cello chanteuse Unwoman) and Madison, WI’s Matt Fanale (aka punk industrial provocateur Caustic), BQA combines equal parts post-punk, new wave, and noise, and grinds it all into a paste of dirty, dark romantic goo, combining Mulkey's gorgeous vocals with Fanale's stark, reverb drenched compositions.

Their free debut EP ROUGHEST CUTS- THE DEMOS spent nearly a week at the top of the Bandcamp charts (and went to number one on the alternative charts). Consisting of three original tracks and a cover of the Sex Pistols classic 'Submission', BQA cites influences ranging from the Jesus and Mary Chain to EMA to Pulp as some of the inspirations for their music.
