Futurepop is an electronic dance music genre that incorporates influences from synthpop (primarily in the song structures and melodies), trance (grandiose, arpeggiated, fast-paced synthesizer beats), and EBM/Industrial (mostly in the harsh vocal style and worldviews presented in their lyrics). The term was coined by Ronan Harris (of VNV Nation) and Stephan Groth (of Apoptygma Berzerk) while attempting to describe the style of music their bands produced.
