Absent One was founded in 2009 in Moscow by two friends, Nick and Alex. They gained public recognition at the Russian festival: "Dark Entries". Their debut album, "Blowback", was appreciated by critics; "Stwerdess" song was put on the "Synth Radio Russians" compilation. Year 2010 brought, along with a new singer Helen, changes to the style of music they play. The band definitely decided on guitar sounds rather than electronic instruments, and so the tracks acquired a darker and heavier shade. "Hollywood" was included in the "Best Russian Dark Stage Artist" compilation. The musicians on the new album, "Places", continue to play in synth-garage climate.
The songs are very simple but catchy.
The track Night and City gained my particular appreciation.
However, summing up, the album leaves no great impression on me and deserves a strong 3.
