"Grain" is a collective project of two bands: Belborn and Rose Rovine e Amanti. "Collective" isn't a right word here. Don't expect hearing the connection of German and Italian temper (surely it would sound well) - instead of this, we obtain kind of two different albums, so there should be two different reviews.

Damiano Mercuri's songs display genuine, true emotions, elaborated melody and wide range of instruments. "Terra, Pioggia E Fuoco" or "La Falsa Europa!" cause goosebumps, vocalist goes all out, after his dramatic voice here comes the rough sound of violin.

Belborn is like unsuccesful experiment on this CD. After wonderful ballad we can hear military song with an excerpt of German speech;a neo-folk guitar stands beside a kitchy keyboard. And in the end there are two live recordings: they'd sound quite encouraging, unless their quality...

To sum up, "Grain" is like incomplete. Rose Rovine e Amanti and Belborn are both great projects, but separately, not together.
