Continuity of Parks is a one-man project created by Ewan Jeffrey. It is absolutely uncommon and definitely worth attention. Electronica is here a tool to sample acoustic sound of the world. It may be the soundtrack of life for many of us. CoP music is characterized by the richness of electronic sounds and sampled voices of the outside world. Lyrics in its traditional meaning do not exist. Defragmented vocals repeat sequences of lines and words. The artist writes on his MySpace site that he is interested in nostalgic, crooked melodies and cut voices creating something like the soundtrack of life that you have possibly experienced before. This kind of creative philosophy gives the effect of defragmentated ambient electronica. The richness of samples, variety of melodies, changing of the tempo, echoing and electronic landscapes are undeniable proof of originality of this music. Is the soundtrack of life of south-eastern England citizen where the artist usually stays? Not really. Ewan Jeffrey derives his inspiration from the broad European culture; literary roots of inspiration are accomplishments of such artists as Krzysztof Kieslowski, Wislawa Szymborska, Lewis Caroll, Edgar Allan Poe, Stanley Kubrick, Michael Haneke, "Ferdydurke" by Witold Gombrowicz or Cortazar's "Continuity of Parks".
"The Night Face Up" is a really charming album. It is in some elements postmodernist but coherent in its sound. The soundtrack of life in the 20th century, where you can still find fragments of the universe in acoustic version. I really recommend the music of Continuity of Parks; especially to fans of electronic sounds, who often seem to think that everything has already been done when it comes to this kind of music. On the artist's website you can now listen to songs that will be on the next album called "Music for Torching".
