It's surprising, but exactly yesterday, on a completely different occasion, I remembered this quote: "Life is an echo. What you send out, comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get. What you see in others, exists in you." Today I finally sat down to listen to Ductape's latest album "Echo Drama", which also touches on this topic. The album was released on February 29, and I must say that it is a great example of how wonderfully you can combine cold post-punk with energy, thrilling dynamism, and multicolored vocals.
Çağla Bora Güleray and Furkan Güleray have created an album that is the quintessence of dark melodies and at the same time emanates sonic and melodic light, attracting with its eclecticism, original composition, and stage potential. Melodic, lively songs such as "Red Scar", "the Unknown", and the downright clubby "Closer" found a place next to more dark, hypnotic songs such as "Evil Me", and the previously mentioned "Anafor", or sublime, sonically beautiful songs like "Duvar". The album closes with "Insan Senfonisi", which is fundamentally different in terms of melodic base and dynamics from the rest of the album, summing up the whole thing perfectly, bringing out all the richness of shades emanating from Çağla's vocals.
It is certainly, in a sense, a reminiscent album, shedding light on the past, it is a reflection, a concentration of emotions, including difficult ones such as pain and loneliness, a certain coming to terms with this emotional baggage - such an echo of life.
To sum up, for the most part, it is an album composed of fast melodies, great basses, and guitar-synthesizer compositions, which are the background for strong, emotionally rich content. A beautiful, versatile publication.
