The fans od good old Iris won't be disappointed, as the old mode, which characterized the group from the very beginning, is still present on the new CD. We will also find a lot of guitar sounds interlaced with synthpop.
What can I say about the CD?
For sure it has a specific tone created partly by guitar variations which build up a romantic background. Unfortunately, the romanticism becomes with time the worst aspect of the CD, especially for those, who value energy the most. For those after multiple listening, the CD becomes simply boring. While on „Awakening” one could find catchy songs like „Sorrow Expert” or „You’re the answer”, there are no such tracks on the new CD. The CD is full of ballad-like songs, which are quite tiresome after one listens to them longer. The CD definitely lacks an energetic hit. Even the faster tracks like „Lands Of Fire” or „No One Left to Lose” (perhaps thanks to the guitar, or to the vocalist's voice) in spite of a more vivid rhythm, simply vanish among the ballads.
The greatest advantage of the CD is a crafty style change, introduction of guitars without even slightest change of mode, which is so appreciated by the fans of romanticism in Iris synthpop.
I first of all strongly recommend it the Iris fans, but also to those who like unoppressive sounds with a specific mode. As far as those who like vitality and tracks good for dancing, they may enjoy the CD during the sentimental dinner with candles, as it's great for listening for two. ;)
My mark is 60% and I'm looking forward to the next album as I wonder which turn the old, good Iris will take.
