Psyche - Insomnia Theatre + Bonus

2016-06-19 (News)

Originally self-released in 1985 as a single LP, "Insomnia Theatre" was Psyche's first album. Its brilliant style mixed dark electronics, new wave, industrial, and horror in ways that back then were quite shocking to its first Canadian audience, and which today are seen by synth music aficionados as a master work. With classic cuts "The Brain Collapses", "Maggots", "Eating Violins" and "Children Carry Knives", the album made its way to Europe. The Artoffact Records reissue is completely remastered and includes several bonus tracks, some have never before been released. The base of the recording is the original Canadian LP Mix, with the addition of several tracks from the New Rose 1985 edition, plus bonus tracks from the "Contorting the Image" EP (1986) and the very rare "Unleashed cassette" (1988). Singer Darrin Huss personally selected all bonus material, including the never-before-heard "Ice and Lies".

Inkubus Sukkubus - Barrow Wake-Tales of Witchcra

2016-06-18 (News)

Saul and Tony from Cheltenham – the two have always had a fascination with the folklore of the area, with songs retelling tales of river goddesses, witch persecution and magical landscapes. As well as looking at more general British mythology – shape-shifting, seasonal agricultural celebrations and witch-finding – the new CD "Barrow Wake" explores some peculiarly Gloucestershire dark tales while giving a nod towards the horror movies. This album follows hot on the heels of "Mother Moon". The current line-up of Inkubus Sukkubus consists Candia McKormack on vocals/bodhran, Tony McKormack on guitars/programming, and Dave Saunders on bass/acoustic guitar.

Cities Last Broadcast - The Humming Tapes

2016-06-16 (News)

Pär Boström of cult project Kammarheit presents us with his side project Cities Last Broadcasts second album, "The Humming Tapes".
On this album Pär Boström explores his fascination with old seances and the early 20th century. Reel-to-reel tape recorders and de-tuned instrumentation combined with modern mixing techniques creates an album that sounds haunted, but also careful and nurturing.
Pär has with this work taken yet another step forward in his production skill set squashing any doubt that he is one of the most unique artists in the genre with his unorthodox approach to recording his sounds.

Hypnoskull - Immer Wieder Nein

2016-06-16 (News)

Sonic explorations into the rich tapestry of electronic music aside, resistance and challenge have always been Hypnoskull's primary statements of purpose, and examining these themes in attendant texts and song lyrics has been, and always will be of the utmost importance to Patrick Stevens. This work. 'Immer Wieder Nein', is no exception! Presenting a highly explosive assemblage of aurally conveyed anger and thought-provoking impulses, a barrage of fierce and violent loops originating from harsh electronics and rhythmic noise backed up with distorted techno beats, this release moves the listener into a state of hypnosis, making them receptive to the lyrics of the closing three tracks. Well-known German poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht inspired Hypnoskull to make radical re-interpretations of his works 'Gegen Verführung' (against seducement), 'Benares Song' and 'Seeräuber Jenny' - lyrics about devastation, seeking bloody revenge, and opposition which haven't lost their relevance in the last hundred years. It is important to say 'no' time after time, again and again.
