After three years of waiting, Swedish synth-pop trio comes back with a new album "Retro" released through Dream Box Records. As the title suggests it’s a synthesis of sounds of the 80’s with contemporary elements.
The album consists of 10 pieces that blend well with each other making a cohesive collection featuring Ingeborg on vocals and Nicklas&Johan in charge of the synthesizers. After few minutes of listening we’re shifted back in time and put in a chill-out mood.
As I see it, there are 3 tracks I would consider masterpieces: the opening "Dance On", "Where Do We Go" and "Psychoanalysis" are good to shake your leg a bit, or, depending on your choice, make you close your eyes and simply enjoy the splendid sounds of synthesizers and stunningly beautiful vocals.
In the simplest terms, even though it doesn’t stand out from similar synth-pop issues, it’s still a nice listening. While not exactly the impression I’am looking for, it is not to be overlooked because despite not being any serious contribution to modern music, whenever you’re in a mood for a discoteque ala 80’s, it may be a choice worth considering.
