Everything covered with snow. Trains immobilized somewhere in unknown landscapes, towns paralyzed by the traffic jam, frustrated people desperately seeking for a warm shelter. Could the scenario be more marvelous? If the crowning of the day is ‘A Strange Hour’ then devastate me with more such snow-depressing days. Recoil appeared for the second time in Poland and successfully performed in Progresja, Warsaw. Alan Wilder accompanied by Paul Kendall has presented a fusion of a varied Recoil’s output combined with intriguing visualizations. It was an exquisite dose of a dense, throbbing with power and eroticism music. We have heard, seen and felt the shock wave of such pieces like: Jezebel, Faith Healer, Prey, Drifting, Killing Ground or Want (the last one remixed by Architect who was playing as a support). Those who remember Depeche Mode had an opportunity to sing Never Let Me Down Again and Personal Jesus (traces of DM fascination could also be heard in Architect set). Without a doubt, the whole impression was reinforced by the stimulating images of dancers, soldiers, strippers, demagogues, flashes of cities and weapon, bodies covered with milk and masterpieces of H.R. Giger. Entirety was tastefully and dynamically served. Wilder and Kendall came across as laid back, fulfilled men deriving pleasure form their work. Definitely, the audience was satisfied with their performance despite the public transport problems caused by the actual ‘first’ day of winter.
