Sin Deadly Sin - Fall From Heaven

Debut album from reactivated part of a black metal Evenfall band was definitely expected a lot. Unfortunately, both the gothic arrangement of Sin Deadly Sin, like the whole convention of Fall From Heaven record, raise only doubts.
Fall From Heaven is a set of 11 similarly sounding, melodramatic tracks, none of which stays in the memory long enough, to enjoy it. Essentially pieces are based on the same chords, they are characterized by similar - if not identical - dynamics and rhythm. All tracks - although very similar - musically sound not so bad: they have heavy guitars, melodic synthesizers, with a limited potential of the bass line and almost power metal drums. The problem arises every time, when vocal of Roberta Staccuneddu appears: monotonous and nasal, extended too much in the foreground, almost always covers the musical background – one, that could save the record. However, after hearing the album many times, weaker and slightly better moments of the disc can be pointed already. Sonically compared to the other tracks it can be distinguished crowning of the album trinity. Q.o.t.d. compared to others sounds very mature, well balances the temperature of the heavy metal guitar sound with arrangement of soft synthesizers. My Prayer should be outlined for consistent adherence to the theme and rhythm, that can not be found in the preceding tracks. From Your Lips, that is crowning the record, is basically the only ballad on the album - and it sounds surprisingly good. There is no problem of vocal that battles with musical arrangements, as they are kept to a minimum. Slightly warmer feelings, apart from already mentioned pieces, are raised by Moon Darkened Silence - which is, however, very similar to My Prayer, unfortunately. In principle all other tracks deserve to be condemned, primarily with the single one Your Heaven, in which fantastic intro and good, keyboard theme is ruined by boring and homogeneously sounding vocal. Despite aforementioned Moon Darkened Silence, until Q.o.t.d. nothing happens on the album, and all tracks sound too similar, to dwell on them.
Fall From Heaven is one of the biggest musical disappointments in recent months. Group that previously played black metal, now reduces guitars, mutes bass and gently knocks on the keyboard synthesizers - which in any case Evenfall was not lacking, but they were... stronger? Sin Deadly Sin presents quite poor and homogenous sound, despite the huge potential (and a great guitar, really!). The impression would be probably a lot better, if there was not a forced, nasal and dull to the pain vocal, which covers so unexposed musical background. Staccuneddu’s voice express no emotions, is tendentious and instead of emphasizing the strengths of the band - it only weakens them. Overall - Fall From Heaven is a proposition for gothic metal admirers, who for the principle will listen everything, within frames of the genre. And finally - listen at your own risk.
