It's the second album of the German band Superikone, released last December. Malte Schmidt is the man behind it all, not only playing but also producing the music.
The record begins with a 25 second intro, giving us a taste of things to come, with the words "Superikone bitte zum tanz" asking us to dance.
After my first listening, I wasn't too impressed with it. I liked "Eiskalt". A great combination of vocals and music, pretty much different than the other songs. The German pronounciation fits, as we get a lot of "hard" words in the lyrics.
The other songs are all much alike, with nothing particularly drawing my attention, maybe apart for the intro to "Machtmenschen", where the female-male vocals with a delicate background herald a nice atmosphere, but that's all we get of it, with the song turning into another average track.
The lyrics can be groupped thematically: political - e.g. in "Machtmenschen": injustice and ignorance of truth by the governing powers, while no force can destroy the individual; romantic - in the title song "Energie", we have the emotional experience of a kiss, "sky in flames" with two people wanting each other; frivolous - a subtle and sweet creature happens to have a heart of stone.
I've listened to the record more than a dozen times, trying to find something more in the music, but the first impression was correct. Yes, it is music you can listen to from time to time, but the disc won't be a frequent guest in my player.
