In Letter Form - Fracture. Repair. Repeat.

2016-04-21 (News)

Drawing influence from the works of early The Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus, New Order, Echo and the Bunnymen and Interpol they produce a sound that echoes the past, haunts the present and is constantly in the future.
Reflecting on past deeds; some well intentioned while others, not. The ways we had been wronged or the choice to see it that way because sometimes that's easier than the truth.
The prose and cons of having thin skin to protect a thick heart, put "in letter form" perhaps?

Mantus - Refugium

2016-04-19 (News)

Mantus' latest opus "Refugium" is different. Perhaps this is due to the times we live in. Perhaps, though, this is because Martin Schindler believes there is no other way. After leaving the drawn-in, elegiac world of the wonderful predecessor "Melancholia", "Refugium" has the intensity and force of a breaking dam. Like never before in the career of the tireless Gothic icon, the topics are literally torn apart, almost schizophrenic in their oscillating movement between introvert and extrovert. Outbidding the poles of the Mantus signature sound between Dark Rock grandeur and melancholic longing, this leads to some of the strongest and most haunting pieces in a career almost spanning 20 years. More than ever before, "Refugium" tells us of the battle against everything that is bad, but also of capitulation. Of resignation. Ironically enough, though, it is mostly works like that fight against giving up with fierce determination.

Thorofon - Roots

2016-04-18 (News)

In 1996, Thorofon was launched and has grown to become one of the most remarkable projects in the German power noise / industrial movement, and with its 20th anniversary on the horizon, the time has come to present an exceptional celebratory release for the constant and faithful listeners all around the globe. The main components of 'Roots' are archival ones from the last two decades, featuring unreleased material and compilation tracks as well as technically updated reinterpretations of past sonic assaults, a fact which is hard to believe while listening to this monolithic release. It succeeds in turning the past into the present in a most astounding way.
'Roots' skillfully combines the brightness and wide palate of today's recording possibilities with the oppressive darkness of a bygone musical era including frozen surgical ambiance, unsettling canalized noise and distorted, straight rhythmic sequences. The ingredients of vintage industrial music, cold power electronics and menacing EBM coalesce in a most perfect way - a trademark Thorofon has been well-known for throughout the last two decades.
