"Fixed" is the first position in a collection of Nine Inch Nails' remix albums. It contains different interpretations of tracks released on the "Broken" EP, which we can already expect by looking on it's cover, being just a negative of it's original. The songs went down the similar path - they are even more negative than before. The opening remix of "Gave Up" is maybe not so massacred in the instrumental part, but the vocals have been - literally - "smashed to pieces". Shred fragments of Reznor's parts are being played backwards, speed up, rewinded, skipped.. The over nine minutes long remix of "Wish" is based mainly on looped riffs from the chorus, but it's also heavy manipulated. "Happiness In Slavery" can remind "Heresy" a little - it was changed into some trancy ambient. The groans are the only thing that remained from the original. "Throw This Away" is a collage of noises against a background of the acoustic part from "Suck". The original "Last" lyrics don't appear till the ending part. "Fist Fuck" is a seven minutes long mix of guitar and drum riffs from "Wish", enriched with various weird samples. The record is crowned by an eight minutes long "Screaming Slave" - another collage of noises and statics, combined with synthesizers and a stretched, slowed down scream. "Fixed" is definitely the hardest material from Reznor, but it's also a very interesting collection of sick noises. Although I don't recommend to start with this album under no circumstances - it's something for hardcore NIN fans only.
