I admit, that I have not managed to find such a good record composed of club’s dark electro... Or as prefers to be called Project Rotten, aggrotech/harsh ebm. It is incredibly well-balanced and well thought out – beginning from the hard strike of Soul Stripped lady and gentleman from Project Rotten fraction keep the level for the whole length of the record. Almost unprecedented number of electronic layers in each of tracks, original rhythmic solutions - all that we already found in aforementioned Soul Stripped, and each of successive tracks persists on perfection. The only changes, that can be seen are those in a way of building atmosphere. And how it is in the dark independent there is darkly... or darker ;) A total, very positive surprise was appearance of piano in The Hunger - rhythmically and harmonically powerful.
Vocal layer does not introduce anything new in any of the tracks - dark-electronic standard, folks are screaming and yelling... but it gives them an incredible energy in each of the tracks. That energy, every supporter of the genre loves, values and seeks.
In Through The Chaos it gets even more electronical and "dry". Who likes what, I personally think, the first two pieces approached for me more, due to the higher power of their sound. But the descents of power are also required not to feel satiety, as to such a well constructed record would it be an unnecessary intervention... What does not change the fact, they still surprise us with a remarkable rhythm.
Nightmares 2k11 begins pleasantly with "dirty" bit, then - as usual - gets just better. Energy, overlapping layers of electronic, variable rhythm...
My impression is, that by describing other tracks I would start to repeat myself. So why I should do it? Some will point out, that Project Rotten does not offer us anything more, than we already know. Well... this time there is no way in signing it. It's a really reliable position for anyone, who appreciates good, solid harsh ebm sound. Some projects are designed, so they should be heard from a start to an end – here you can so, but you do not need it at all. Each of the tracks defends itself separately, and listened as a whole is consistent, and what is more important, does not trouble at all.
The last track with a perverse title "-untitled bonus track-" is a kind of a wink to all supporters of electronic sounds, who know, where it originates. You hear the famous "eight bits"? That kind of music can be played even on the Game-Boy... A deep nod to the artists from me, the song literally entertains and enjoys.
From me five with a plus!
