Curios is certainly the choice for the mature listener, being able to appreciate the interpretation of works created by Wayne Hussey (The Mission) and Julianne Regan (All About Eve).

Curios is intended to be a collection of cover versions with personal interpretation of the musicians involved in the project. It includes two brand new songs.
We can find here also new interpretation of the Naked and Savage (The Mission) and
Calling Your NameC(All About Eve).

Curios might be quite a surprise for The Mission and All About Eve fans, because Wayne and Julianne just created a new quality of cooperation here.
It is certain that the production of Curious had to require a lot of dedication and heart, as Julianne lives in London and Wayne in Brazil. The time difference must have been not very comfortable for them...

As for the album it self - a subtle, warm and balanced proposition for a long autumn or winter evenings.
After the first hearing it is natural, that listener automatically searches for references to the originals: what was changed, how the interpretation goes, whether it was something new added?
Depeche Mode fans might find as quite a surprise the interpretation of the cult song - Enjoy the Silence. It is much slower than the original, thus gaining a whole new dimension.
Worthy of notice is also Where the Wild Roses Grow (Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue). I do wonder what music video would be created for this interpretation?
After another hearing one can focus only on the content of Curios itself. Julianne’s moody vocals can immediately give us a specific mood, as usual. It is not that important which song are we listening to. Her voice is one of its kind.We can also find Wayne in a new role, a bit narrative as well as very gentle.
The musicians work together as a perfect match despite the distance separating them.

Apparently the link of understanding between them is very strong, which helps to interpret these songs. Variety of songs used on the album belongs to their favourites.
I do hope they had a lot of joy while working on it,as only the two of them have created an entire album- without the participation of other musicians.... and it is quite a work indeed!

The album includes two brand new songs - ‚Dangerous Eyes’ - is a work contributed by Julianne and ‚A Change in the Weather’ - a song composed by Wayne Hussey. He used to work on it with some other project, but finished it just for Curious.
As for the ‚Dangerous Eyes’ the musicians admit it was not an easy work and treat is rather as a challenge to finish it on time.We are lucky they managed to do so.
Both songs seems to fit perfectly to generally peaceful and balanced ambient of Curios.

Just as I noticed at the beginning - this album is mainly dedicated to mature, and open minded audience. I wish we had much more of such an interesting surprises available.

However Curious is pleasant to listen to, much controversy might arise, as it is always a matter of taste to find new cover version enriching or not. You should find out by yourself.
