Wumpscut is a one of such a music project that takes to my mind associatons: loud, dirty, unusual and not easy. Cover of this new LP suggest that it’s going to sound just like that. What a surprise, author decided to mess with new sounds and rhythm and the effect is really interesting, original and characteristical. This music is not boring, it takes listener into it’s dark space. After „warm-hearted” welcome, the beginning does not announce nothing new, it’s fast and hard, specially good sounds track called „Jesus Antichristus” and this will continue till track #3 „Cannibal Anthem” where rhythm slows down. This tune sounds like ethnic drums in the jungle, and the oriental guitar fits great there, it fills perfectly spectrum of sound. Then we start a trance trip (Auf Def Jagd, Ohne Dich) and even ambient sounds (Pass Auf). Coming to an end we meet track „Hunger” – totally surprise – female vocals, hard reverb, beat and piano sounds create uniqe climate and impression of magic lightness. The last track reminds us that it’s still good old Wumpscut – Recht Vor Gnade is hard and dirty again. As an conclusion I must admit that Cannibal Anthem is a really good stuff, songs are different, it’s not boring – worth to buy and listen to!
