When you know Swiss band The Beauty of Gemina as an outfit for seminal darkwave/industrial music, you will be surprised when listening to their upcoming record The Myrrh Sessions. It is an acoustic album with re-interpretations of their best songs. Multi-talented band leader Michael Sele proves again that he is a dedicated musician with an intuition for the wonderful.

Some of the songs are guitar based, others are carried mainly by a piano. Michael Sele plays both instruments. He is supported by musicians David Vetsch (bass), Mac Vinzens (drums) and Marco Gassner (guitar).
The Myrrh Sessions is a well-selected collection of Gemina's best, also featuring two new pieces. Among the classics you will find re-interpretations of 'Suicide Landscape', 'Stairs', 'Rumours' or 'The Lonesome Death of a Goth DJ'. Acoustic instruments, together with Sele's voice (which alongside with Michael Girah's from Swans, I consider as one of the best in the darker music area), these songs are much more than just 'warmed up' hits, they reach new dimensions. The songs are able to touch the inner of your heart and press one or the other tear out of it.

With the new record The Beauty of Gemina penetrate the border of their musical range. The Myrrh Sessions show that Sele is a musician as skilled as sensitive and will possibly become a modern classic.
