I love to struggle with newcomers, for various reasons - one they are novelty, two you do not know what to expect, three is that we may find a pearl. Such a rookie is 3TEETH, four men from Los Angeles, who beautifully move between industrial with elements of metal and EBM.
At first glance of the ear, you have to notice inspirations from such tycoons of Canadian scene - Malhavoc, Front Line Assembly or Numb that come to mind almost at once. There is ominous, mighty beat, circulating around flavors, aggressive guitar inserts. Already the first track, or - in my opinion probably the best one on the album, brilliant "Dust" - strong guitars’ background and unearthly distorted vocal evoke to mind the Skrew band from time of their brilliant debut. Later it is only better – there is a growing climate of dark industrial straight from the early Skinny Puppy. Each track is hit, one time there is more gloomy and atmospheric, and on the other rhythmically - these sounds intertwine perfectly charming the listener with atmosphere straight from the fall of 80/90. When guitars’ weight becomes of secondary importance - appears ominous, expanding theme, with electronic, distorted guitar-synthesizer’s sauce, calling spirit of the early KMFDM, mainly in the "Master Of Decay" track.
3TEETH musical interests are obviously not directed only towards Canada. These mentioned inspirations from KMFDM and German scene appear almost by themselves, we have also such gems as "Consent" - pure old time EBM, and when you see the video, it immediately comes to mind the giant, namely Front 242. But the further the more aggressive are guitars and more venom is in vocal - men must really love the Skrew band and praise them for it. Perfect proportions, both in the individual tracks, as well as in track listing, because the last two are as taken out right from Ministry session.
Album for long evenings - there are so many flavors that it is impossible to comprehend all at one time.
One thing is certain - if you are Skrew fans, the Canadian scene and EBM classics, it could not be better. I keep my fingers crossed for guys, because if they will develop in this direction, they will be great. So far, they deliciously debuted!
