New album of Gas Masked Lestat, Greek artist who creates an atmospheric post-industrial mix of rhythmic noise and death industrial is released on January 15th by Antyscena.
Gas Masked Lestat is a Greek representative of the electronic scene straight out of Athens. The only member of the team is Vasilis Angelopoulos, who acting as a DJ under the name Self Mutilator. The project started in 2005 and the initial projects were recorded on the tapes. From the beginning, heavily involved in such genres as rhythmic noise / dark ambient. combines a variety of shapes and fascinations from industrial to dark ambient. The philosophy of this project has its base in a deep critique of political systems, the environment and the world around them.
He draws his fascinations and inspirations from the literature of Franz Kafka, Nietzsche, Phillip Dick and William Gibson. Musically, creates his project by taking the best part of real Rhythmic Noise, namely, Sonar, Iszoloscope, PAL, and others. Gas Masked Lestat is a very ambitious and interesting character, interesting personality and creative artist. By his activities, he’s trying to integrate and to promote the noise / industrial scenes in his country. We had the opportunity to meet him at the German event Larm Larm Alarm, where he gave also known as the maker of industrial creative visualization.
