The best way to describe sounds played by English band Rhombus would be to call them melodious gothic rock from the 80’s and 90’s. And this is the music which we can find on the album entitled "Anywhere."
It lasts about 18 minutes and includes 4 tracks: 2 new so far unpublished ones and 2 remixes of a title track.
It starts with a version of title "Anywhere" known from the album "Open the Sky". It’s a really good, melodious track. It stays in mind for long and a leg is tapping itself during listening. Fans of gothic but also of rock should enjoy. The next one is "Timeless And Elegant" with nice, melodious guitar motif. It well could be the next band’s single. Mixing the voices of the vocalists with domination of Mya’s voice which fits this kind of music perfectly was a good idea. Next track "Nowhere" is calmer than the previous ones. This time Edward’s vocal is dominating and Mya’s creates background. It’s an interesting track, a little bit distressing with interesting drums which create a kind of wall of sounds in the background.
At the end we’ve got "Anywhere" once again but in a remix version. To be honest it doesn’t differ much from the original except from the length and instrumental interludes. But it’s nice to listen to this song once again because it’s a really good song.
Mixing female and male voices is a really good idea. Surely it distinguishes the band from many others playing this kind of music. This mini album perhaps is not that much innovative but it’s enjoyable. I’m waiting impatiently for a new album of this band.
