Biography:

Project Ugasanie (from Russian translates as ”extinction” or ”fading” ) was born in autumn 2010 by Pavel Malyshkin. The name Ugasanie was once used in his band that played somber psychedelic garage rock and is also associated with the term ”nirvana” in Buddhism. He also played in various bands, mainly on bass guitar.

Dark ambient recording  started in 2010, at first the music was conceived simply as a background for poems. Since then, he spent six months in the Arctic Circle on the Yamal Peninsula, the dominant theme of the music become the north. Polar night, endless expanses of… One of the albums recorded there.  The album ”The White Silence” was recorded in Belarus, but the mood of the northern tundra of the far north of Russia is the focus of the album.

Ugasanie uses synthesizers, field recordings and  live instruments like  the harp ( khomus ) ocarina (clay Belarusian folk flute), zhaleyka ( Belarussian folk wooden flute) and guitar.

Ugasanie is back with his third album entitled "Eye of Tunguska". A strange incident took place in the 1990s in late autumn in the taiga. Not far from the epicenter of the Tunguska meteorite impact site. A group of students went hiking to to see this legendary site. They lost their way after they decided to spend the night in one of the winter huts built by hunters of the land. Their mutilated bodies were later found near an old abandoned geological base with radiation burns. Ugasanie explores this incident together with photographer Alexsandr Yakushev in this eerily cold and unforgiving dark ambient release.
