One of the three distinguished in classic division kind of music by Boethius was musica mundana, that resulted inter alia, from movement of the heavenly bodies and, what is not difficult to guess, it could not be registered by human ear. Thus says the medieval mind. Trio Aniaetleprogrammeur proves, however, that spheres sound with audible tones and, what is more, you can hear the contemporary no-wave.
The Friendly Expectations Of The Stars is title of the second album of the group, which was released in January 2013. As we all know, the stars turned out to be kind to the human race (which some of us acknowledged with disappointment), saving from the apocalypse at the end of the year. Some people still believe in the beginning of a mystical transformation - whether they fail, time will tell. But for Aniaetleprogrammeur new era undoubtedly already begun, marked by innovative and emotional, expressing feelings of citizens of the present age, music.
The band from the beginning creates its own, vast and cosmic spaces. At their super strings they unzip another dimensions and cross their borders, being like a Doctor Who of a musical world, but in adult only release, without naivety of British science fiction. After a disturbing, mysterious Intro follows explosion of a supernova - in Realism you can hear every layer of sound matter, can be heard, as it explodes, and listener struggles with subsequent stellar dust clouds, to reveal their immense depth. And the immense power - pulsating with dance beat, machine rock, synthetic backgrounds, changing second by second. And just then the listener realizes, that a journey through spaces started, the existence of which so far was even not suspected, the journey, that, even alone, lost in an emotional world, will continue.
Moldy starts a little cacophonic, but composition full of noise elements becomes more ordered with time, increasing in power through live drums, which is accompanied with processed vocal treated as an instrument (which is characteristic for most of the material), penetrating and percolating with the layers of electronics. Sharp, low guitars prove with their strength quickly, that Aniaetleprogrammeur is creation mostly of rock origin. Samples play a major role here, wading through the wall of sound and accompanied with other elements of the track’s last part gives an insane character.
Time Travel has something of Atari Teenage Riot, but it does not cause feelings of irritability associated with dealing with authors of Delete Yourself!. The electronic components are there strictly limited to the sharp riffs and melodic, low tuned guitar, that dominates the whole of energetic, kept in fast pace composition. Guitars, that begin to fade in the middle of the song, when the motoric rhythm stops. Suddenly, as if the listener is moved by time space tunnel to another part of the universe, Time Travel shows ambient like, melancholic character and goes through extensive synthetic background, to which introduces modest keyboards, and after a while the drums, track is progressively turned back along with the guitar to its initial features. Everything is going on smoothly, the individual parts are not separated from each other, that is the evidence of band's composing talent.
Out Of You is an atmospheric respite, far more simple and slower, characterized by modest choral elements in the background and depth. But even as the static composition is eventually disturbed by guitars appearing in the middle of the track, that, especially when they operate on the higher sounds, are like the release of accumulated emotions since the beginning, the same melancholic atmosphere is maintained, although it changes its means of expression, and sounds are gaining their momentum. This is one of the best points of the album, in which the atmosphere and the power are well balanced and no element diminish the role of another - a space vacuum is co-existing with hot red giants.
Low Passion seems to be the most affordable composition of the record, without giving up punk industrial foundation, but reflecting elements of pop. Similar to Realism, though less diverse, it is still layered, still exploding and burning, electronic crown of the sun - not so far from the average listener, but still appropriate for Aniaetleprogrammeur.
After Interlude, a little disturbing, but turning into the mood of anticipation, with noise and muffled strikes in the depth starts Affliction, that it is slowly untwisted by dirty electronics and live drums, in which an important role have sounding plates of percussion. Rhythm and subsequent motives that are drilling in the ears magnetize and addict, especially in combination with vocal, less modified than before, crazy, full of moans and voices with a superimposed effect of delay. When the last low bass resounds, shock lasts.
Out Of Me begins my favorite part of the album. The beginning is deceptive - but the enigmatic effects and drowned out rhythm section is only an introduction to the deep melancholy and dreamy atmosphere. Along with climate the instruments change - an important role is played there by a piano and gentle, ambient like space and mesmerizing, deep beat.
The universe is expanding and melancholy is turning blue, and dreams into a pain, when Hanrigabriel begins to whisper in French against street noise and piano passages in Project 21. Fading away and rising slowly, to explode violently emotional themes are played by synthesizer, moderate drums beat in the chorus, the residual electric guitar in the background, subtle pulsations, imitating the sound of stringed instruments tones, when the singer's voice is silenced - and above all, just that voice and the piano, which reveals its individuality and takes into possession the listener against the noise, when everything else is gone - along with the same song structure makes it the best composition of those, that are on the album, the most personal of personal confessions, and for me, personally, one of the most important musical treasures, that I met in a long time.
The Great Change goes back to noise style, and heavy wall of sound created by guitars and the "space", psychedelic tones and a whole arsenal of dirty electronics is overwhelming, introducing relentlessly the listener along with the text to a nightmare of realism.
Outro (528) keeps that atmosphere, from the beginning – before it will turn into a gentle and dreamy - echoing sounds from the previous position, and from Intro, while forming a loop. "Loop" is a good term, because listener that does not want to leave the world created by Aniaetleprogrammeur, immerses in it again - as in the theory of universe that is eternally reborn and implodes.
The Friendly Expectations Of The Stars draws into a black hole, from which there is no return. This innovative and avantgarde combination of nebular noise, punk guitars, psychedelic electronics and unusual lyrics perfectly captures chaos and confusion. It is definitely a higher level of musical expression.
For the album’s strongest points I consider Realism, Low Passion, Out Of You and Project 21, but it is definitely a difficult choice, because I am irreversibly captivated by the whole. I am charmed and, just like stars, I expect further achievements of the trio.
