Dancing and Laughing presents:

THE NASTY NOISE DISCO 2!

An evening of synth and industrial music for a very special occasion.

Live performances from:

QUAL
Qual is the solo project of William Maybelline - one half of the ice-cold Lebanon Hanover duo. William first stepped into the scene as an individual artist in 2014, declaring through his alienated sound the intention to explore the very grimmest areas in synth-based music. His 2015 Sable LP on Avant! was unapologetically gothic in subject matter (Luxurious Bleedings, Rip Doth Thy Scarlet Claws, etc.) and sound, brutally knocking listeners down into a vortex of agonizing self-reflection. Qual’s most recent and by far most uncompromising output came this year with the release of his Cupio Dissolvi EP. On this record William merges the despairingly freezing properties of ‘80s-‘90s EBM with the more aggressive sensibilities of industrial techno without ever diluting the intensity of either. This is not an appealing world, the recent swing of pop culture into the dark notwithstanding. Qual is impossible to listen to half-heartedly - it will drag you by the jaw and butcher you in a dirty alleyway. Or you can come with. Your choice!

SYNAPSCAPE
Two fragments out of the debris left by the fragmentation of Ars Moriendi and Blendwerk fit in a mysterious way: That was in 1994 and marked the beginning of a journey into an abstract universe of sound, monumental rhythmscapes and highly reduced, yet intense sonic creations. This expedition has been going on for almost a quarter-century, with no end in sight as their desire and curiosity remain unchanged.

On stage Synapscape prefer to expose their rhythmic side, partially instrumental, partially driven by Tim’s signature distorted vocal delivery. To celebrate the almost-anniversary, they have looked into their classic tracks and come up with reinterpretations that consider the technical possibilities of today.

GERTRUD STEIN

GERTRUD STEIN came to life in 2008 as a protest project against the bossanovification of great 80s songs with a new wave version of Toni Holliday’s Schlager-pop number "Tanze Samba mit mir".

Her music is a retro-futuristic declaration of love for the cold days of the analogue 80s, when two keys on the synthesizer were enough, when life and love were set against a world that could end anytime, where a distant but tangible feeling of alienation, not too dissimilar from our modern digital dystopia of disembodied connections, anonymous cities, and dispossessed futures, could yet not wholly extinguish the wild dreams of romance and hope.
