I:Scintilla is one of those groups, that are quite hard to classify. I would say, that it’s one of the few bands, where electronic elements are not only an addition to distorted guitars, but an equally important ingredient. There aren’t many bands out there, that can maintain such equilibrium. More often than not, the final product isn’t good enough neither for fans of distortion nor electro.

Published in 2007 "Optics" is frankly the best album yet by I:Scintilla. Brittanny Bindrim’s vocals definitely got a lot better, when compared to her previous works. Album lyrcis most probably won’t leave you speechless, but they’re still on a decent level. As for the music, all tracks are very much varied, so you can be sure you won’t get bored after just few listenings. On the other hand, that same variety can be a bit irritating, especially for those of you, that keep focused on one particular genre. "Optics" is a mixture not anyone could pour down their throats. We have tracks, that could easilly pass for metal or pop; there’s even one clearly out of the ambient genre. Nevertheless, all is glued together by I:Scintilla’s unique style and stays coherent. Thus, eventually, the band deserves a praise. I’m convinced that not many band could maintain such unity in such varied material.

Concluding, "Optics", maybe isn’t a masterpiece, but is fun to listen to. It’s something worth recommending to all those, who like a mixture of different musical styles.
